FOTOSEPTIEMBRE: Celebrating Latino Culture and Community

Centro Cultural Aztlan is proud to present FOTOSEPTIEMBRE: Celebrating Latino Culture and Community. A photography exhibition curated by Dr. Ricardo Romo.
Over the years, photography has served as a powerful tool for preserving the history, identity, and spirit of San Antonio’s Latino community. The images of FOTOSEPTIEMBRE: Celebrating Latino Culture and Community exhibit at the Centro Cultural Aztlan captures everyday life, important events, and cultural traditions– tangible and intangible—creating a visual archive that complements written records. Iconic images of social movements, migrations, and daily experiences shape public memory and deepen understanding. Photographs in this exhibit also document fleeting moments—festivals, rituals, and personal expressions—offering insight into community values and identity. By making these aspects visible and relatable, photography connects insiders and outsiders alike to the richness of our Latino story.
